Lancôme Clarifique Double Essence — My Honest Review (Bought With My Own Money)
Bonjour! I’m J., documenting a beautiful life.
This is an honest review of a product I actually use — bought with my own money.
Product info
- Lancôme Clarifique Double Treatment Essence, 150 ml
- CA$130 (Lancôme Canada)
- Four pro-peeling acids (glycolic · salicylic · phytic · lactic) + beech bud extract from the Ardèche forest in France
- Dual-phase formula: 97% watery brightening essence + 3% soothing lipidic phase — shake to mix
Shake it first — every time
You really need to shake this before every use. There’s a little white rod inside the bottle that helps the water and oil phases blend when you shake it. Shaking is literally step one in the official instructions. Skip it and the two phases won’t mix properly.
How I use it — first thing after cleansing, like a toner
I use this as the very first step after cleansing, like a toner.
I pour some onto a cotton pad, press it gently into my face to absorb, then sweep the pad over my face to finish with whatever’s left.
It refines my tone and texture in one go, and everything I layer afterward — serums, creams — seems to absorb better too.
Texture and feel (honestly)
For dry skin like mine, this is wonderful. There’s a slight oily richness to the essence that leaves my face deeply moisturized.
It doesn’t sit on top — it feels like moisture filling in from within.
It’s in my top 3 liquid essences I’ve ever tried. The results are real.
Tips by skin type (my take)
- Dry skin: good for all four seasons
- Oily skin: fine year-round except summer
- It contains AHAs, so sunscreen is a good idea if you use it in the daytime
Verdict
- Pros: dual-phase formula that blends on shaking, real tone-and-texture refinement, perfect moisture for dry skin
- Cons: you have to shake it every time, might feel a bit heavy for oily skin in midsummer
Written honestly — my own money, my own words.
Wishing you a beautiful day! — J.
