Lancôme Rénergie H.C.F. Triple Serum — My Honest Review (Bought With My Own Money)
Bonjour! I’m J., documenting a beautiful life.
This is an honest review of a product I actually use — bought with my own money.
Product info
- Lancôme Rénergie H.C.F. Triple Serum, 50 ml
- CA$180 (Sephora Canada)
- Triple-chamber bottle: hyaluronic acid · vitamin C + niacinamide · ferulic acid
- One pump dispenses all three formulas separately
Why I bought it
Firmness is my number one concern now. In my 40s, it’s not just wrinkles — it’s that subtle loss of bounce, especially along the jawline and cheeks. The idea of three fresh actives (hyaluronic acid, vitamin C + niacinamide, ferulic acid) kept separate until the moment of use made sense to me: no pre-mixed formula slowly losing potency in the bottle. At CA$180, it was a considered purchase, not an impulse.
Good to know after opening
The first few pumps don’t dispense the three formulas evenly. After three or four pumps, they started coming out in equal amounts. Worth knowing if you’re trying it for the first time.
And since the three formulas come out separately, you really need to blend them well on the back of your hand. Don’t rush this part — it matters!
Where it sits in my routine
After my liquid essence, before moisturizer — the classic serum slot. Morning and night. In the morning I follow with sunscreen (non-negotiable with vitamin C in the mix), at night with a richer cream. It plays well with everything I own; I’ve never had pilling or conflicts with other products.
Texture and feel (honestly)
I’ve tried similar high-performance serums, but this one’s texture is genuinely different.
It feels a little stiff the moment it touches the skin. It doesn’t melt in softly — honestly, it feels like applying sunscreen. And the finish right after feels similar too.
That said, it does fully absorb after a while.
The stiffness surprised me at first — I’d expected something more silky at this price. But I’ve come to read it as concentration rather than a flaw: there’s a lot of active material in each pump. The key really is the blending on the back of the hand and then patting, not rubbing. Rubbing just moves it around; patting presses it in.
Left to right: just dispensed → blending → smoothed out. Before blending, you can clearly see the white cream and beige gel sitting apart.
One tip: gently patting it in works much better than rubbing.
Morning vs. night
I slightly prefer it at night, when I can be generous and let it absorb without rushing to makeup. In the morning I use a touch less — the sunscreen-like finish actually works as a decent base under foundation, but too much can feel heavy by midday. Find your amount; mine is one full pump at night, about three-quarters in the morning.
A note for dry skin
My lower face is extremely dry — if I stop at this serum, my skin feels tight after some time. So I always layer a moisturizer on top. Keep that in mind if your skin runs dry.
This is worth repeating because it’s the main reason someone might dislike this serum: it is not a moisturizer, and it doesn’t pretend to be. If you have dry skin and expect one product to do everything, you’ll be disappointed. Paired with a good cream on top, though, the combination is excellent — the serum does the active work, the cream seals it in.
Does it work?
Yes — I’ve genuinely seen improvement in my skin.
What I’ve actually seen: my skin looks firmer and more even, especially in the morning. The change is gradual — nothing dramatic in week one — but comparing photos from two months apart, the difference is there. Is it worth CA$180? For me, yes, because it replaced two separate serums (a vitamin C and a hyaluronic acid), so the shelf and the budget both got simpler.
Verdict
- Pros: freshly blended triple actives, real visible results
- Cons: stiff on first touch, dry skin needs a cream on top, watch the pump ratio for the first few uses
Written honestly — my own money, my own words.
Wishing you a happy day! *bows*
