Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Cloud Cream Review: The Sherbet-Like Night Cream
Bonjour! This is J., documenting a beautiful life.
This is a genuine review of a product I bought with my own money.
The Kiehl’s Cream Series, Part Three
This time it’s Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Omega-Rich Cloud Cream. As the name suggests, it’s a night-only product.

Mine was bought in Canada, so one side of the label is in French.

My Night Cream From Late Spring to Early Fall
I use this from around the end of spring through early fall. It takes a break during the scorching midsummer.
Sherbet-Like Texture That Melts Like Sherbet
The texture feels like sherbet. And applying it feels like sherbet melting? It’s an unusual style among night products — very high in hydration.

Melts Like Ice Cream, But With Its Own Satisfying Richness
It glides on as smoothly as melting ice cream, but it doesn’t absorb as fast as you’d think. It has its own satisfying weight to it. Easy to spread, and once applied, expect a comfortably rich, oily finish.

Fall Is Starting — Almost Time to Reach for It Again
Now that fall is starting, I think I’ll be reaching for it again soon. It’s one of the first products my hand goes to when the season changes.
Who I’d Recommend It To
Recommended for those in their 30s and up, and anyone with dry skin. If the Ultra Facial Cream felt too heavy and burdensome, this one is lighter — a night product you can use without that weighed-down feeling.
Price Reference
On Kiehl’s Canada official site, it sells for $62.00 (50 ml) — as of October 2026, before tax — rated 4.4 from 985 reviews.

My Full Night Routine With It
On the nights I use this, my routine is simple: gentle cleanser, a hydrating toner, sometimes a thin serum, and then this as the final seal. I take about an almond-sized amount, dot it on forehead, cheeks, and chin, and press it in rather than rubbing. Pressing seems to help it melt evenly instead of sliding around.
A little goes a long way because of how spreadable it is. When I first opened it I used too much out of habit — night cream instinct — and my face felt overly slick. Half of what you think you need is the right starting point.
What I Notice the Next Morning
I wake up and my skin feels soft and calm, not tight the way it can after a dry night with the heat running. There is no heavy residue by morning, just comfortable skin. Makeup the next day goes on smoothly over it — no pilling, no patchiness around the nose and mouth where dryness usually shows first on me.
Cloud Cream vs. Ultra Facial Cream — My Honest Comparison
Since this series keeps coming back to the Ultra Facial Cream, here is my direct comparison. The Ultra Facial Cream is richer, more occlusive, the one I want when Montreal hits deep winter and the indoor heating is merciless. The Cloud Cream is lighter and melts faster — it feels like it sinks in rather than sitting on top. My personal system: Cloud Cream for late spring through early fall, Ultra Facial Cream for late fall through winter. They do not really compete; they tag-team the year.
The One Thing That Bothers Me
It comes in a jar, and I have feelings about jars. I use the little spatula every time and never double-dip with fingers, but I would still prefer a tube or pump for hygiene. Also, on genuinely humid summer nights, even this lighter formula feels like a bit much — which is exactly why it takes its midsummer vacation in my drawer. Used in its proper season, though, I have no real complaints.
Verdict
Perfect for anyone looking for a night cream that isn’t heavy. A sherbet-melt application, rich hydration, and a comfortably weighty finish. Pretty much the textbook example of a light night cream.
Stay tuned for the next one!

Happy day! *bow*
