My Go-To Donut Spot in Montréal After 9 Years: Léché Desserts (Saint-Henri)
Bonjour! This is J., documenting a beautiful life.
This is a genuine review from my own visits — not sponsored.
After living in Montréal for over 9 years, I have a short list of dessert places I keep going back to. At the top of that list is Léché Desserts in Saint-Henri. Famous for their artisanal donuts, but here’s what keeps me coming back: their lunch wraps are just as good as the donuts.
Saint-Henri is one of those neighborhoods that has kept its authentic Montréal charm while quietly becoming a food lover’s destination. Léché Desserts fits right in — a cozy, welcoming spot with exposed brick walls and the irresistible smell of fresh donuts. It’s the kind of place where the staff remember regulars, and where you can taste the care that goes into everything they make.

🍩 The Strawberry Series (Spring Limited) Is the Best
The spring strawberry series is, in my opinion, the best donut they make. That’s the strawberry cream donut in the photos — a fluffy donut filled with fresh cream and strawberries. When spring comes, this is a must.
My daughter gets nauseous and dizzy from other donuts, but Léché is the only donut she can eat. That tells you how clean and light they taste — not greasy at all.

What impresses me most is how light these donuts are. Many donut shops leave you with that heavy, greasy feeling afterward — not here. The dough is airy, the frying is clean, and the toppings are fresh rather than cloying. That’s why my daughter, who can’t tolerate other donuts, can enjoy these without any problem. When a place can win over the pickiest eater in the family, you know it’s something special.
🥙 Don’t Skip the Lunch Wraps
It’s a donut shop, but the lunch wraps are genuinely delicious. Chicken with fresh vegetables, wrapped up perfectly. A wrap for lunch plus a donut for dessert makes the perfect meal.

☕ Pair It With Their Coffee
Don’t just grab donuts to go — stay for a coffee. A fresh donut paired with a good coffee, enjoyed at one of their tables, is one of life’s simple pleasures. The slightly bitter coffee balances the sweetness of the donuts perfectly. On a quiet weekday morning, it’s my favorite way to start the day.
After 9 years of living in Montréal, I’ve watched many dessert spots come and go — but Léché has stayed consistently excellent the whole time. That kind of longevity in the food business doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because every donut, every wrap, every cup of coffee is made with the same care as the first day. That’s why it’s my go-to, and why I’m confident recommending it to you.

🚶 Canal Walk + Donuts & Coffee
The Saint-Henri store is right by the Lachine Canal. My favorite course: stroll along the canal, then grab donuts and coffee — a perfect walking route! One note: they close early, so check the hours before you go.
In the warmer months, I love picking up a box of assorted donuts and finding a spot along the canal to enjoy them. Watching the cyclists and kayakers go by with a fresh strawberry donut in hand — that’s summer in Montréal at its best. Just remember to bring napkins; the cream-filled ones are gloriously messy!
🛒 Atwater Market Day Trip Idea
Besides the main store, they have a shop inside Atwater Market. My recommended course: grab Thai-style satay skewers at the market, then donuts for dessert at Léché. Market browsing + good food = a perfect weekend outing. Be sure to check Atwater Market’s opening hours when planning your visit!

Happy day! *bow*
